Socialization of Writing from Scratch Center (WSC) Program 2024

On Thursday 22 February 2024, International Class Academic Office (ICAO) organised a socialisation of Writing From Scratch Center 2024 for all international class students of Telkom University.  As writing a final thesis can often feel like navigating through a labyrinth of challenges, this program aims to help and assist international class students to finish the writing of their final thesis. Since 2020, this program has been further enriched through collaboration with external tutors to provide comprehensive support in guiding students through the thesis writing process.

This year’s Writing From Scratch Center proudly showcased Mr. Bugi Gustaman, an esteemed tutor from the international class. With a career spanning over a decade, Mr. Gustaman has served as a translator and proofreader since October 2009. As a dedicated member of the Association of Indonesian Translators, he has diligently translated and proofread English and Indonesian documents for 15 years. Since 2020, Mr. Bugi has devoted his expertise to assisting students of Telkom University’s international class with their theses, final projects, and scientific articles, all in English.

The event kicked off with an inspiring opening speech by Dr. Mohammad Deni Akbar, the Manager of Postgraduate and International Class. Dr. Mohammad Deni Akbar delivered a motivational speech, urging students to seize the opportunity and strive for excellence in their final theses. Following Dr. Mohammad Deni Akbar’s speech, attendees were presented with a testimony video featuring international class students who had participated in the program and reaped its benefits.

The main agenda of the event featured a presentation from Mr. Bugi who highlighted the importance of understanding the thesis writing journey as a multifaceted process. It’s not merely about putting words on paper but rather a systematic approach that involves planning, research, drafting, revising, and refining. Mr Bugi emphasised that Feedback and guidance from peers and mentors like himself can provide invaluable insights and enhance the overall quality of the thesis. Mr Bugi’s presentation also gave a sneak peak of the elements that will be discussed in the program including, Guidance on Topic Selection, Writing Techniques, Citation and Referencing, Template and Formatting Assistance, Time Management Tips.

In conclusion, the presentation served as a beacon of guidance for students embarking on this challenging yet rewarding endeavour. Through this program, students can have a more productive and fulfilling experience in your Thesis Writing. Armed with these insights and tips, the path to academic success becomes clearer, paving the way for scholarly excellence and intellectual growth.
