Boosting Academic Spirit by General Lecture from Wildan Abdussalam Doctor Candidate of Max Planck Institute-Germany
Wildan Abdussalam, the candidate of Ph.D in MaX Planck Institute received the invitation to be the guest speaker in general lecture conducted together with Miss Fitria Miftasani, a lecture in informatics faculty. The general lecture was conducted in Tokong Nanas Buidling on May 1 2016 through teleconference. The students were excited to ask questions regarding the topic “Tips and tricks to get PhD in Max Planck institute in particular and how to study abroad in general”. Mr. Wildan shared 3 main redlines of his journey to PhD, they are :
1. Design your future dream
2. Be consistent in achieving it
3. Don’t set a target yet improve what you have done and experience (learning from experience)
In addition he said that success is never free, we need to put much effort in gaining it. He shared his experience when he was in Poland he managed to survive hunger due to the lack of money he had and little amount of scholarship he was given yet he succeeded in overcoming that problem by expanding and maintaining his relatonship with people there and never forget to pray to God.
His effort was paid off when finally he got four scholarship and a summers school offered. He said that to travel around the world you don’t need to be rich and to get good grades in the past. “You might not believe it but you can give it a try”, he added.
