
Celebrates Indonesia’s Independence Day with Ceremony in Temajuk Village
The International Collaborative Community Service (ICCS) program in Temajuk, Kalimantan Barat, is led by Telkom University. This initiative brings together partners from Poltesa (Politeknik Negeri Sambas), UPB (Universitas Panca Bakti), i-CATS University in Malaysia, and PT Telkom as an industrial partner.

In collaboration with several universities, the team participated in the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. On August 17, 2024, they took part in a flag-raising ceremony in Temajuk Village, West Kalimantan. The ceremony was attended by representatives from Telkom University, Politeknik Negeri Sambas, Universitas Panca Bhakti, i-CATS University College Malaysia, and the local community. This event symbolized not only a celebration of Indonesia’s independence but also cross-border collaboration to promote unity and community.
Temajuk Village, known for location bordering Malaysia, provided a meaningful backdrop for this event. The border area is an important shared national identity among residents living far from urban centers.

The raising of the red-and-white Indonesian flag, accompanied by the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” brought participants together in a moment of solemn pride. representatives from the universities stood shoulder-to-shoulder with villagers, all united in saluting the flag.
This ceremony not only honored the sacrifices of Indonesia’s past heroes but also inspired the attendees to carry forward the ideals of independence, unity, and respect. The collaboration between academic institutions and local communities demonstrated nationalism.
This event demonstrated that the spirit of independence can be celebrated with enthusiasm and meaning, no matter where you are—even at the nation’s border. The collaboration between the universities and the local community in these activities not only honored the country’s history but also unity and togetherness amidst diversity.
